Write a will and make a difference
A will is your opportunity to decide what happens when you’re no longer around. It’s also a chance to contribute to a better world with your last wishes. Through RFSL’s collaboration with Jurio, you can write a will for free if you also choose to leave a gift to RFSL.
Writing a will can be especially important for LGBTQI people

If you are an LGBTQI person, writing a will can be especially important. Many LGBTQI people live in chosen families. Because of this, the people you consider family may not automatically have the legal right to inherit from you. Did you know, for example, that a partner that lives with you (In Swedish: sambo) does not inherit from you unless you have written a will?
If you want your chosen family to inherit from you, it’s essential to write a will. In Sweden, if you don’t have children and haven’t written a will, your parents will automatically inherit from you—provided they are still alive. If your parents have passed away, your inheritance will go to other relatives. You can read more about Swedish inheritance laws in English at Efterlevnadsguiden.se.
Did you know that…
more and more Swedes are choosing to include a gift to a cause they care about in their will?
How to write a free will with Jurio
- Fill out the form at Jurio. You’ll answer a number of questions to tailor your will to your specific situation.
- As you fill out the form, you’ll be asked to choose which organisation(s) you want to include in your will. You can select RFSL from the list.
- Once you’ve completed the form, approve and generate your document. When you reach the payment step, the discount will automatically be applied if you’ve chosen to leave a gift to an organisation.
- You’ll receive clear instructions on witnessing, signing, and storing your will—these are crucial steps to ensure it is legally valid.
Draft your own will
You can, of course, also choose to write a will yourself. If you wish to leave a gift to RFSL, it is important to include our organisation number: 802011-9353. However, we recommend using Jurio to ensure your will is legally sound.
Vita Arkivet – a useful complement to a will in Sweden
In addition to writing a will, a good complement is to fill out Vita Arkivet (White Archive) at Fonus.se. If you pass away, this document is automatically sent to the people you’ve designated, providing them with information about, for example, your funeral wishes or where you’ve stored important items such as photographs. Vita Arkivet is free to use but is not legally binding. That’s why it’s still important to write a will to ensure your inheritance is distributed according to your wishes.
Your gift will be in safe hands
RFSL is a member of Giva Sverige and holds a 90-account. This means we follow strict guidelines for managing bequests, ensuring that your money is used as you intended. According to Giva’s regulations for bequests, nonprofit organisations must:
- always act in accordance with the wishes you express in your will.
- provide detailed financial reporting on how bequests and other donations are used.
- measure the impact of their work to ensure they are making a real difference.
It’s good to know that…
even a small amount left to a nonprofit organisation can make a big difference.
