+ Who are RFSL?
RFSL, the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Rights, is a non-profit organisation founded in 1950. We are the largest LGBTQI organsation in Sweden and one of the oldest in the world. RFSL works for an equal world where the human rights of all LGBTQI people are respected and no one is left out.
+ How is the money being used?
Around the world, LGBTQI people are subjected to discrimination, hatred and violence, and RFSL works to change that. The money that RFSL collects is used to strengthen the rights of LGBTQI people in Sweden and the world.
In Sweden RFSL supports, among other things, LGBTQI people subjected to violence, newly arrived in Sweden and trans people. We create meeting places around the country where members can participate in activities such as lectures, café evenings, pride celebrations and workshops.
Internationally, we support LGBTQI movements in Asia and Africa, so that they can stand up for everyone’s freedom and equality, even in places where LGBTQI people are persecuted.
+ How do I know that the money is being used correctly?
RFSL has a so-called 90 account. This means that the organisation will be reviewed by Svensk Insamlingskontroll, in addition to the review that takes place by RFSL’s authorised signatories. Therefore, you can support RFSL and be sure that the money will be used for the right things.
Svensk Insamlingskontroll administers all seven-digit plus giro accounts that start with 90.
Only associations that are approved by the Svensk Insamlingskontroll have the right to a 90 account. Since 90 accounts are a confirmation that the fundraising is managed in a responsible manner and that the money goes where it should, you as a donor can be sure that the money ends up where it’s supposed to. The rule is that at least 75 percent of raised funds must go to core operations, while a maximum of 25 percent may go to administration.
